Home remodeling and renovation in Northwest Arkansas
Whole-house updates, rental and short-term-rental make-readies, storm repairs, and the smaller jobs that are hard to find a good contractor for.
Renovations
Many of our jobs cover more than one room: new flooring through the main level, updated trim and doors, paint, lighting, and a kitchen or bath in the same project. If your home has an unfinished lower level, see our basement finishing services. Running it as one job with one contractor keeps the trades in order and the price in one place. If the kitchen is the main room in the project, see how we work as a kitchen remodeling contractor in Northwest Arkansas.
What a renovation involves depends a lot on the town. In newer cities the work is mostly upgrading builder-grade finishes; see home remodeling in Centerton, where most houses date from 2000 or later. In Bentonville, our page for a remodeling contractor in Bentonville covers the city’s eTrakit permit checklist for alterations. For home remodeling in Bella Vista, where the median house dates from the mid-1990s, it’s usually the original kitchen, baths and flooring all at once. In Lowell, see remodeling in Lowell, where a permit expires if work doesn’t start within six months.
Whole-house remodeling in Northwest Arkansas
A whole-house remodel is several trades that have to happen in the right order. The usual sequence is demolition, then rough-in plumbing, electrical and mechanical work, then the inspections that need open walls, then drywall, trim, paint and flooring, and finally fixtures and punch-list items. Skipping ahead is how new flooring gets cut up for a pipe nobody planned for.
Permits are where the cities differ. Arkansas requires a state contractor license for residential remodeling and home-improvement work over $2,000, so ask any contractor for their license number. After that, each city has its own paperwork for an alteration:
- Bentonville: the alteration and remodel checklist asks for scaled drawings showing existing and proposed changes, plus plumbing, electrical and mechanical plans where they apply, all uploaded at submittal.
- Rogers: a remodel submittal needs before and after floor plans of the entire house and an electrical plan showing smoke detector placement, with electric and plumbing shown if they are moved or added.
- Fayetteville: a permit comes before altering a building, plumbing, electrical and HVAC work each need their own permit, and a licensed contractor does not remove the requirement. Painting and flooring are exempt.
- Lowell: electrical, plumbing and mechanical work are permitted separately, and a permit is void if work does not start within six months.
We prepare and file these for you. For the city-by-city details, see remodeling in Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville and Lowell.
Rentals and short-term rentals
We work for property owners as well as homeowners. That includes updating Airbnb and rental properties between guests or tenants, and getting a property back up and running after damage.
Storm damage and repairs
After the June 2024 tornado we helped a downtown Bentonville Airbnb owner get their property repaired and back up and running. We do the carpentry and finish work, and we’ll point you to trusted specialists for what we don’t do, like water removal.
Smaller jobs
- Fascia, soffit and trim repair
- Drywall repair and texture
- Doors, door frames and windows
- Flooring

Questions about home renovation
Do I need a permit to remodel my house in Northwest Arkansas?
Usually yes, if the work changes structure, plumbing or wiring. Each city sets its own paperwork: Bentonville and Rogers want scaled plans for a remodel, and Fayetteville requires separate plumbing, electrical and HVAC permits. Painting and flooring alone are exempt in Fayetteville. We file the permits for you.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes, within reason. Repairs like fascia, soffit, door frames and drywall are a big part of what we do, especially for repeat clients and property owners.
Do you work on rental and Airbnb properties?
Yes. We work with property owners on make-readies, upgrades and repairs, and we can coordinate access when you’re not local.
Can you handle storm damage repairs?
Yes for the construction side: framing, siding, trim, drywall and finishes. We can also connect you with the specialists we trust for water mitigation and other work outside our scope.

“We have an air bnb in downtown Bentonville and these guys helped us fix it up. They also really helped us get it back up and running after the tornado in June 2024. They even connected us with some of the services needed that they don’t cover such as water removal. Thanks guys!”
“Would recommend. Harvey Construction’s got some excellent staff in their office and on the field. They were eager to get us on the schedule quickly, communicated when weather delays occurred, and delivered quality work.”
